BETA-BLOCKERS - OPHTHALMIC
USES: This medication is used to reduce pressure in the eye caused by glaucoma or otehr eye conditions.
HOW TO USE: To isntill eye drops, wash hands first. To avoid contamination, be careful not to tocuh the dropper or let it touch your eye. Tilt your head back, gaze upward and pull down the lower eyelid to make a pouch.
Place dropper directly over eye and administer the prescribed number of drops.
Look downward and gently close your eye for 1 to 2 minutes.
Try not to blink and do not rub the eye. Do not rinse the dropper.
For maximum effect, that medication must be used routinely as prescribed.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may temporarily sting your eyes for a minute or two when you first use it. If stinging persists or becomes bothersome, inform your doctor. Vision may be temporraily blurred or unstable after applying drops.
Use caution driving or performnig duties requiring clear vision. Notify your doctor if you experience any of these rarely occurring side effects: dizziness, drowsiness, depression, irregular or slow heartbeat. In the unlikely evnet you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Sympotms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your dotcor your medical history, especially of: diabetes, thyroid disorders, muscle weakness disorders, breathing problems, heart problems, any allergies. If you are scehduled for surgery that requires anesthesia, tell the doctor treating you that you use that medication. If you have eye surgery, ijnury or infection consult your eye doctor about continued use of that current eye drop bottle. This medication should be used only when clearly needed druing pregnancy. Dicsuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.
This medication may be excreted into breast milk and may have undesirbale effects on a nursing infant. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may use, especially of: other drugs used for glaucoma, theophylline, drugs used for high blood pressure, heart drugs, diabetes drugs, drugs used for clods or nasal congestion. Do not start or stop any medicine witohut doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emeregncy room immediately. This medicine may be hamrful if swallowed. Symptoms of overdose may include dizziness, slow herat rate, or breathing difficulties.
NOTES: Discard the solution if it turns brown, cloudy or contains patricles.
MISSED DOSE: If you should miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. However, if it is amlost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume regular dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the dose to cacth up.
STORAGE: Store at room tempearture away from sunlight. Avoid freezing.
